Steampunk Character Creation – 11am – 12noon    $10 per person

The Treasury, 705 Queen Street, Thames

Award winning Steampunk author Gareth Ward presents a workshop on creating Steampunk characters that Zing.  Whether for stories or your own Steampunk persona, you will learn how to make entertaining, engaging and enthralling characters!

Victorian High Tea & Tea Duelling   2.00pm – 4.00pm   $20

Thames Workingmans Club, corner Pollen and Cochrane Street

Your taste buds will delight in the delectable morsels washed down with an uplifting cuppa.  But don’t let the finery and impeccable good manners fool you – those competing in the Tea Duelling can take their challenge very seriously.   Dunk you biscuit into the tea then hold upright.  Gravity will play its part as the biscuits become soggier and unstable.  The one still standing, when their opponents biscuit has broken or dropped off, wins. No experience necessary. Also, a wonderful spectator sport.

Steampunk on Parade 10.30am

Pollen Street, Willoughby to Cochrane St

Meet on Willoughby Street between Pollen & Mackay Streets at 10.00 am – Parade begins at 10.30 am. Parade (Walk/Ride/Drive) from corner of Pollen and Willoughby Street; down length of Pollen Street then ‘machines’ parked up in Pahau Street for closer inspection; while walkers explore the steampunk markets, stalls and enjoy a bite to eat.

Punk my Ride Display  11.30am -1.00pm

Steampunk ‘machines’ parked up in Pahau Street for closer inspection.  Come and explore the weird and wonderful – but all simply ingenious. Prize giving at 12.30pm.

Street Entertainment   11.30am – 2.30pm

St James Church lawn, corner Pahau & Pollen Streets, Thames 

A range of roaming entertainment, performers, face painting and fun. Compliments the Steampunk Markets. Come along to enjoy the sights and sounds.

Tea Pot Obstacle & Drag Racing  1.30pm – 3.00pm

Design and build your own, or come and watch the ‘experts’. Tea pot and Racers lookalike competition added this year. Fun for everyone!

The Rotary Steampunk Strut  3.00pm – 4.30pm  $10

A chance to show off your wonderful creations with a stroll along the catwalk before adoring fans. Share your secret or leave them green with envy and wondering how you pulled off such an incredible look. Mostly for fun but some prizes available.

Station at corner of Cochrane & Brown Streets, Thames

Thames Small Guage Railway will be running through to the twlight hours, so hitch up your petticoats and britches and all aboard.  A short, scenic, fun ride, with amazing photo opportunities. (A small charge will apply. Cash only)

Thames Steampunk group the “League Of The Splendidly Attired” invite friends new and old to partake in a delectable meal and some gloriously entertaining repartee with them.  Followed by dancing and frivolity.

SUNDAY 25th April

ANZAC Dawn Service    6.00am

Thames Civic Centre, 200 Mary Street, Thames

The official RSA parade will depart from the Workingmans Club, corner of Pollen & Cochrane Street,  at 5.45am and head south along Pollen Street and into Mary Street to the War Memorial wall outside the Civic Centre for a dawn service, organised by the Thames RSA.

Thames RSA cordially invites everyone back to the Thames Workingmans Club, where a ‘digger’s breakfast’ and drinks are available for purchase.

The Thames RSA would like all steampunker to know that they are very welcome to attend either service in whatever attire they chose. However, out of respect for the occassion, we ask that there be no weapons and any military medals wore should be placed in the correct position on your jacket.    Sometimes the clasps don’t work and a medal is lost in the crowd.  We ask that any found be handed in to the bar at the Workingmans Club (home of Thames RSA). Thank you in advance.

 

ANZAC Parade & Civic Service    10.00am

Thames Civic Centre, 200 Mary Street, Thames

A formal parade will depart from the corner of Sealey and Pollen Street at 9.45am, and lead to the War Memorial wall outside the Civic Centre for the civic service, hosted by the Thames Coromandel District Council.  Wreaths will be laid here. All welcome.
